Stephanie Mason
Before coming to Green Valley, Stephanie taught Spanish at Staunton City Schools for 5 years. She is originally from Philadelphia, transplanted to Staunton because of Mary Baldwin College. Her family still lives in Philly, except for her youngest sister who moved in with me this year! She has 5 siblings, 2 dogs, 2 chinchillas, a rabbit, and 8 cats. Stephanie used to live with her partner until she passed away in a car accident 2 years ago. “My community is my family, and Green Valley feels like a little home away from home.”
“After the death of my partner, I was in need of a much less stressful and more flexible job, so I quit teaching and applied to at least 100 different jobs! Green Valley was the first to hire me, and boy am I glad they did! I have 12 other jobs in addition to this one, but working at Green Valley is definitely one of my favorites.”
“My favorite part of being a Green Valley employee is the dynamic work environment, the constant learning, the kind and funny customers, letting loose my inner silly goose every day, and most importantly: the dogs. My greatest strength working at Green Valley is my ability to build rapport with coworkers and customers. Oh, and I write some pretty awesome descriptions, too!”
“The most challenging thing I have to do at Green Valley is stay focused. When there are so many cool and interesting things to look at and learn about, sometimes it's hard to stay focused on the task at hand!”
Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys hand drumming (djembe, cajon, hand pan), playing the banjo, cloud gazing, being in nature, contra dancing, planning events, learning, organizing, and so much more!
